Lesley O’Brien – Partner
Having studied as a Foreign Correspondent, Lesley’s intention was not to join the transport industry. An intended short term interim job at Gondrand UK in Bradford however lasted for 2 years, where Lesley was able to put her French and German language skills to good use. She was then head hunted by French haulage Company MJL International, and set up a Company for them in the UK. The Company grew from 10 to 100 vehicles and in 1995 was sold to then one of the top 5 French hauliers, Giraud. Lesley became Managing Director of Giraud UK in Leeds, subsidiary, Barbour European in Sterling, Scotland and set up Giraud UK Logistics in Bridgend, Wales. In 2008 Lesley left Giraud to work full time with husband Kevin. Lesley therefore brings a wealth of transport knowledge and fully understands the importance of meeting transport deadlines, especially when collecting goods to be loaded for international transportation. Lesley also runs, sister Company, Freight Train ( specializing in Driver CPC Training, Transport Consultancy, Transport Audits and Compliance – www.freight-train.co.uk), sits on the Regional Council and Executive Board of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and the Yorkshire Maintenance Committee, alongside VOSA and the Traffic Commissioner.
